For several years I made a hobby of writing to movie stars, musicians, and sports figures I admired and asking for their autographs. Eli Wallach, who was in such films as The Misfits, The Magnificent Seven, and The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly, not only sent me a signed photo, but a note to remind me that he wasnt featured just in old movies, but continued acting. His IMBD page lists 167 acting roles over a 60-year career. His final role was in Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps in 2010. His first love was the Broadway stage. He was married to fellow actor Anne Jackson for 66 years, with whom he appeared on Broadway in numerous productions. Mr. Wallach may be best known for having played gangsters, murderers, bandits, and Mafiosi, yet in real life was one of the good guys. He passed away yesterday. Rest in Peace, Mr. Wallach.
