For the last four years our Luke has auditioned to sing the National Anthem at school--for a basketball game, homecoming, a rally...it didnt matter, he didnt mind. He just wanted to sing. Not born with any sort of vocal abilities, the first time he auditioned in front of the administration another teacher burst through the door asking what is that horrible noise??!! The second time he auditioned, one of the teachers was laughing so hard that she had to excuse herself and apparently came back to school wearing new pants. The third, fourth and fifth times he was just flatly rejected--the admin citing too many qualified applicants or not enough time. He didnt waver. Finally, he and his friend Adam (his partner in many crimes since grade school) somehow convinced the faculty to let them sing at their final rally. This, my friends, is a story of determination, perseverance , & good ol fashioned stick-to-it-ness-- a lesson that those who keep their eyes on the prize will ultimately prevail.
