Knowledge versus Skills An emeritus Professor was holidaying in a remote island resort. He was a world authority on many fields and his books are used as references by Phd students. One day he took a private boat to explore another small isolated island near by. An uneducated teenage boy from a local tribal village was his only guide, sailor and helper. After a while, in the middle of the sea voyage, the Professor wanted to impress the boy how great he was. Do you know about black holes? he asked the tribal boy. No. Sir. I never heard about them Too bad. Do you know how the life evolved on earth at least? No. Sir. I dont know either Too bad. Can you speak five different languages? No. Sir. I cant. But I have just one question to you? Speak up. No problem.Said the confident Professor. Sir, Do you know how to swim? No. I dont. But why do you ask such a STUPID question? Professor was curious. Because there is a hole at the bottom of this boat and it is sinking already and I know how to swim He jumped and swam to the shores safely. ★ Sometimes simple skills are more useful than encyclopediac knowledge.
