For those Tour de Cure riders on the track Saturday in the 25mph - TopicsExpress

For those Tour de Cure riders on the track Saturday in the 25mph (sub 4-hour) century ride, here are some final reminders: - Our goal is to get as many riders as possible to break 4 hours (not including breaks) - Get up to speed quickly to approx 25.2 mph (this gives us a bit of a cushion to ensure we break 4 hours) - Take your pull and, when finished, signal your intention that you are getting off the front - Keep the paceline smooth and consistently 25.2 mph. - Watch out for surging. If you see the pace picking up or slowing down from the targeted speed, gently coach others to normalize the pace. As always, there will be other riders outside of Nebo Ridge in the pack and that is fine, and actually helpful! But, the key to breaking a 4 hour century is a smooth and efficient paceline at constant speed. It is a team effort. So, let others know about our targeted 25.2mph speed. - Take staggered breaks (i.e. at different times) to keep the main pack moving the entire 100 miles. If everyone stops at the same time, we will lose the momentum of the large group and overwhelm the water station. When you stop, try to re-fuel quickly, and be ready to catch the group after 6 minutes (for the 25 mph group). By the way, the weather looks absolutely AMAZING for Saturday with light winds and temperatures 60-70 degrees. This should be an outstanding event for a great cause! -- David Kaplan and Jim Stevens
