For those of the praying persuasion … I’ve realised recently that asking God for something, SOMETIMES at first, can take you on an uncomfortable journey; one that you may not have relished the thought of travelling…. We’re taken down a road that we may not have voluntarily chosen….. (not all the time, but sometimes) … At those times there’s a process; of refining, of purging, trusting, believing, moulding, shaping. For sake of example - you may say ‘God make me humble’ and then situations transpire that challenge your pride and ego…. Your battle with your arrogance then eventually brings you to humility as you reach the destination place of realising that you cannot fix, patch, restore that broken area of your life, yourself… you have no choice but to return it to its maker for repair…. But it’s an uncomfortable journey on the way to the repair shop ;¬) - You may say ‘God make me fearless’.. then situations arise that challenge phobias, superstitions etc. We ask… then forget that we’ve asked, then a while later we feel pain and are confused by it… but the pain caused by THAT PROCESS is not in vain… it’s not a pain that leads to hopelessness… but one that ultimately brings healing, joy, restoration and life… it’s the pain of the root cause being skilfully and masterfully extracted by The master surgeon …. I can only speak of what I’ve experienced personally…… sharing in the hope that it helps someone out there.
