For those of you that know about the ongoing dizziness and resulting falls, etc. Ive been having for the last year and a half. Today I saw the Otoneurologist at the UW again. Determination was made that UW will be having surgery on May 12 to repair asuperior canal dehiscence. This is a hole in the semi circular canal and will involve a craniotomy so they can lift up the temporal lobe of the brain to get to the part of the ear they need to they will then plug the hole and close things up. One night in ICU, another one our two in hospital and hopefully then home. They predict about a months recoverytime. If it indeed helps but doesnt totally fix everything, they would do the other side in about six months as there is a smaller hole on that side too. Kind of scary to contemplate but will be with it if it works.
