For those that know me, I am a part of the Lowell Rotary Club and that is who we are going with to Haiti. Through a TON of work, today we were awarded $83,800 grant. This will help the island of La Gonave and make sure that our work continues for years to come. This grant started literally 2 years ago when we started to partner with one Rotary group in the same district as Haiti and was told that it had to be one actually in Haiti. Then we had to re-write the grant, obtain signatures from 2 primary contacts from Haiti that I listed on the grant, and have many conversations with those people so they fully understood what we were asking of them. Now the fun part happens, with the help of Starfysh. Starfysh will be benefactor of the grant as they are the ones who will employ the Haitians, distribute the 694 Water filters that were purchased, and make sure we document all the data so that we will have proof that these filters are changing lives!! We will also be having a ceremony of some sort while we are in Haiti. The Aeroport Delmas Rotary club would like to bring over a few dignitaries and have a ceremony celebrating the partnership that is being formed. Amazing work!!!!!
