For those trying to unravel the Moncton shooting mystery - I have positively Identified the Rifle that the suspect Jason Bourque was carrying in the infamous photograph and it is definately not an M-14 varient at all - but a Russian Style Dragonov Sniper Rifle . The media kept referring to this rifle as an M-14 - when in fact its a Russian Dragonov Sniper Rifle and is very expensive -Market value new right now is 2500 Bucks U.S. It is favored by both some Military units and police Swat agencies as a sniping weapon because it has an excellent reputation for extreme accuracy - so its not nothing you would walk around with to use as an urban assault weapon . Anyways, the way I picked up on it was I looked at the CBC photo very closely and then noticed the stock and shape of the rifle itself -and even though the CBC photo is a just a bit fuzzy- The Dragonov has a very distinctive butt stock with a hole through it , it also has a very distinctive pistol grip and distinctive slim profile Russian SKS appearance with an AK-47 style/type Reciever.
