For those who live in or are familiar with Delhi - When you are on the Ring Road, travelling from South and towards North Delhi and cross ITO & the IG Stadium, you come across a series of Samadhis/Memorials (places of cremation) of many top political leaders of India. Almost all the Samadhis will be towards the right of the Ring Road (if youre coming from South Delhi) The Samadhis/Memorials are - 1. Raj Ghat - MK Gandhi 2. Shantivan - Jawaharlal Nehru 3. Shakti Sthal - Indira Gandhi 4. Veer Bhumi - Rajiv Gandhi 5. Ekta Sthal - Giani Zail Singh (7th President of India, serving from 1982 to 1987) 6. Vijay Ghat - Lal Bahadur Shastri 7. Karma Bhumi - Shankar Dayal Sharma (9th President of India, serving from 1992 to 1997) 8. Kisan Ghat - Choudhary Charan Singh (6th Prime Minister of India and also Indias first OBC Prime Minister) And theres only one Samadhi, just one, on the opposite side of the Ring Road - Samta Sthal - Babu Jagjivan Ram (Union Minister of Defense 1970-1974 & then Deputy Prime Minister of India 1977-1979) He was also the father of Meira Kumar, the soft spoken former Lok Sabha speaker. Strange that all those 8 leaders have their Memorials on one side while Jagjivan Rams memorial is on the other side. Is it because Babu Jagjivan Ram was the only one of the 9 who happened to be a DALIT?
