For those who wondered what happened to tie up 422 WB yesterday afternoon.......this was the wreckage for one very lucky truck driver who left the 422 WB travel lanes at Armand hammer Blvd and travelled down the embankment at the entrance ramp behind Days Inn. Fortunately the driver escaped with only moderate injury, but after crashing the truck burst into flames. As our department works with PenDOT to mitigate this trend of accidents in the construction zone, we continue to urge motorists (commercial operators especially) to SLOW DOWN in the construction areas and drive sensibly through that area. Although it is possible to travel at higher speeds through these construction zones, they are only designed to accommodate 40MPH - thus the reduced speed postings throughout. - Chief Foltz Also expect minor traffic stoppages or backups throughout the day (12/30/14) as the remainder of the wreckage is cleared.
