For years, I have heard people complain about living in E-Town and how they cant wait to get out of here ( especially in my teenage years). But I never felt that way. I believe that life is what you make of it, no matter where you live. The location doesnt matter but instead surrounding yourself with positive and supportive people, be determined, never letting life knock you down and having an optimistic view on life, those are the important factors. And last week I was reminded why I love living in Elizabethtown :) Our church, First Christian Church, had our annual Service Sunday two Sundays ago so many church members were doing service work around E-town. Dawn Lonneman Blair and her family were cleaning up around Freeman Lake and her son found a bottle that had a letter in it. He could have easily just tossed the bottle in the trash but he didnt. He opened the bottle and unfolded the paper and it read... Dear person, Whoever you are, you got my letter. Pray for the Taylors. How thoughtful is that? (It made me cry but it was happy, grateful tears ☺) That letter could have been in that bottle for a few days or for a few months but thankfully I knew the person who found it and they could tell our family about the sweet gesture some kind stranger wrote. And it means so very much and I am so grateful to live in Elizabethtown because the amount of support this community has given my family, not just the last few months but for many many years, is amazing and I am so proud to call this place my home...and its small things, like that kind letter in a bottle floating in Freeman Lake, that remind me of that.
