For years weve been told that saturated fat is a killer that needs to be minimised in our diets. Im happy to accept on faith that at the time they first came out with this advice, there was actually a problem with over consumption of fatty foods. Your body actually does have a use for saturated fats, but like anything else the problem is when you get too much. Were starting to realise that they are not inherently bad though. Now maybe my brain is just wired a little differently to everyone else but heres the leaps of logic that I cant make sense of. saturated fats are not inherently bad, therefore carbs must be. saturated fats are not inherently bad, therefore unsaturated fats must be. saturated fats are not inherently bad, therefore about 80% of your total calories should come from eating butter. This butter thing though man. My god what the literal hell. Grown men of about my age posting selfies and videos munching away on straight up blocks of butter, acting like theyve discovered the fountain of youth or something. Appointing themselves health and nutrition experts and starting podcasts etc. And... how can I put this delicately... lets just say they tend not to look a picture of youthful good health, are they?
