Forgive our lack of communication, please -- our spring release season overlapped about a month with our migration & baby intake season. But, we are two bats & one painted turtle shy of wrapping up the releases of those we overwintered. Wild Caregivers Tamsyn Jones & Chris Witte released the garter snake on WildWay (on its home territory) Sunday; ED Marlene has been making evening runs over the part two weeks (one of which was 5 hrs round trip), with only two left (one still on antibiotic & one needed a little more pre-release flight time). Wild Caregiver Tammy Rons released 3 chipmunks that were transferred to us from the Animal Rescue League of Iowa, part of a rescue from a horrendous life in captivity. The chipper Eastern Red Squirrel, from that same rescue & transfer, will soon be released in a county preserve with a local population of red squirrels. Two cottontails were received close to weaning age & are now weaned & gaining weight, soon to be released back where they came from. The 6 baby skunks are in our care for 5 days, until a rehabber with facilities, space & experience can take them. So, please forgive us for our silence:-)
