Former Pulau Tikus assemblyman Koay Teng Hai said he was now doing five jobs to earn a living after he was dropped as a candidate in the recent general election. Koay, from DAP, said his jobs were in real estate, technology, business, printing and sales. Chinese daily Guang Ming quoted the controversial former representative as saying that his relationship with Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng was “difficult to interpret”. On his statement that he has more information to reveal on Facebook on his unhappiness with Lim, Koay clarified that it was just a joke with some friends and he had not expected it to be reported in the media. Meanwhile, Penang International Halal Hub Development Sdn Bhd (PIHH) secretary Sawarn Kaur said Koay had “distorted” her statement to claim that Lim had asked him to resign from the company. She said all non-Muslim directors in PIHH were asked to resign, including Lim, Koay and R. Murali, to prevent certain parties from playing up sentiments on race and religion in a company that promotes halal products.
