THE PROMISES OF GOD: The promises of God are for those that love Him. Do not be deceived; God will never recognise you as His child and an heir to His inheritance if you are not His obedient servant. Zacchaeus was a Jew by birth, a son of Abraham, but Jesus did not recognise his sonship till the moment he made his great confession of purported restitution; before the Lord said in Luke 19:9; Today is salvation come to this house, because this man too, is a son of Abraham. Was he not a son of Abraham before that fateful day? Jesus did not recognise Zacchaeus as a son of Abraham untill he did the works which were the outcome of faith. What did he do? Luke 19:8; But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, Look Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount . Zacchaeus received recognition as a son of Abraham only when he repented of his sins, gave back his ill-gotten gains and demonstrated his moral reconstruction by his righteous act. In the hour of supreme conflict with the rulers, later on, Jesus said, If you were Abrahams children, you would do the works of Abraham. In Eccles.12:3; The whole duty of man is to love God and keep His commandments. The promises of God are many, and contingent on your love for and obedience to Him. Those that love and obey Him are His children and receive His promises of blessings and eternity with Him. Jesus said in John 15:7; If you remain in me and follow my teachings, you can ask anything you want, and it will be given to you. The Lord is faithful to His promises for His children. He does not promise an easy passage through storms but He does guarantee a safe landing. This is the God we serve; The ancient of days; the ever faithfull and never failing God. I pray for the Holy spirit to empower us to love, obey and serve Him, all the days of our lives, to receive His promises of blessings and eternity with Him, in Jesus name. amen. God bless you for SHARING. From - Jeripher Okpong (Praying Christian International).
