Former conjoined twin, Lea and Rachel, are now fifth grade students at Buddhacare Academy. Through the help of Tzu Chi Foundation, they underwent separation surgery in Taiwan in 2003 and are now living normal lives as individuals. They are now 12 year-olds. Besides shouldering the surgery, Tzu Chi Foundation also provides job for couple Andy and Marietta and an educational assistance for their twin, Lea and Rachel. The mother, Marietta, is a volunteer who is training to become a Tzu Chi commissioner.
