Former pastor of First Baptist Church of Hackensack Bob Gageis facing serious surgery on Tuesday.Praying for him. The details - In June I was diagnosed with Peritoneal Carcinoma, a cancer in the membrane of the abdomen. Technically I have disseminated intra-peritoneal tumors that they classify as signet ring cancer cells. Recently I completed 7 chemo treatments. The doctors faced me with 2 options: (1) to have one more set of chemo or (2) to have the HEPIC chemo bath surgery. The first option would only postpone the cancer for a few months. The surgery could remove most of the cancer tumors and allow me to live one to five years. After much prayer and searching Gods Word for direction, He has given me peace to undergo the surgery at Roswell Park hospital on November 18th. This is a risky 12 hour surgery It is expected that I will be in the hospital for two weeks . The recovery period following will be 6 to 8 weeks. I am thankful to the Deacons for allowing us to spend most of this recovery period at the parsonage
