Fort Pierce Police Officer and Detectives arrest Perrese Currie, 43, of Fort Pierce, for the burglary at the River Walk Center after identifying him from surveillance video of the crime. Curie is currently located at the Saint Lucie County Jail and being held on over $18,000 bond. Last night at about 10:30 pm, Fort Pierce Police Officer Kyle MacCarthy, Detective Paul Cunzo and Detective Michael Dini spotted Currie walking in the area of Avenue E and Dundas Court. They recognized Currie from the surveillance video that was circulated earlier in the day. Officer MacCarthy, Detective Cunzo and Detective Dini checked with the night watchman at Currie’s apartment building, 601 Avenue B, and discovered that he saw Currie with a large screen TV a few nights prior. Detective Jessie Streeter obtained a search warrant for Currie’s apartment and located the flat screen TV. The serial numbers matched the TV that was stolen during the burglary. Currie was arrested and charged with Burglary of a Structure and Grand Theft over $300. The burglary to the River Walk Center, 600 North Indian River Drive, occurred October 20, 2014 at about 11:30pm.
