Founder/President’s 2013 End of Year Message releasing the 2013 Green Book (Annual Report) and Launching of the 2014 Plan of Action. It’s been a year like none; a unique year. I want to start by baptizing this edition of The Green Book as the “Jeffers’ edition”. I believe a year that starts with “two becoming one” is a blessed year and our blessings have been boundless. January 5th 2013 marked the solemnization of our pioneer international volunteers, Shey Colby Jeffers and Yah Mallory Quigg who are now Mr. and Mrs. Jeffers Junior. Special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Jeffers Jr. and all their invitees for making a generous donation to The Greens on their wedding day. The Jeffers Jr. paved way for Mr. Richard Jeffers and Dr/Mrs. Monica Jeffers to take The Greens to the next level; from green to greener! Having the Jeffers as Green Elders is a blessing. To Mr. Richard Jeffers and Dr. /Mrs. Monica Jeffers also known as Papa J and Mama J, we say gracias, merci, beri woo and in every language, we say thank you. Papa J and Mama J, you have served as wise counsel for The Greens and we remain grateful for your wisdom. Papa J and Mama J, you served as a financial pillar of The Greens and we remain hopeful and committed to our cause thanks to your generosity. Thanks to your generosity, The Greens can today boast of a well-equipped International Headquarters. Above all, Papa J and Mama J, you were a Father and Mother to the entire Green Team. To the Jeffers, I say thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Like last year, we are proud that though young, we have been impacting the lives of thousands of people and our planet, Earth. Thanks to the Jeffers, Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium, A World Feast and 1% Club, The Greens has skillfully navigated the turbulent financial environment and ever changing digital world to remain a very active youth organization. The breath of our 2013 Green year began with Festival of the People - Cameroon which was proudly sponsored by A World Feast: To Lynne Cheney and Val Peppinger we say thank you for your generous support and for always being there for us. Festival of the People paved way for us to taste the boundless generosity of our Green Elders, Papa J and Mama J who did not only give us an office, but also gave a befitting launching of the office, The Greens International Headquarters. While Green Radio and Green Peace Talents center sailed throughout the year, The Greens during the World Water Week walked for Water and Sanitation to advocate for universal access to water and sanitation. Our impact was felt during World Water Day, World Environment Day and World Day to Combat Desertification. We navigated the turbulent financial environment and left footprints in the sand with projects like Green Hope, Conservation Champions League, Keep Your Promises Campaign, Green Schools, etc. The vibrancy of our organization earned it a place in the Cameroon National Youth Council and in the National Agricultural Investment Plan Workshop were we served as the Civil Society Representative of the North West Region. Our network is growing with more International Coordinators like Sheryl Singh of Fiji Islands, Marieanne Muriuki of Kenya and many more people who are interested in joining our Green Caravan that strives to change the world. We are proud of one committed local volunteer, Nganuh Brenda: her help has been invaluable. If I were to share with you all our successes, then “The Green Book” will definitely become “The Success Book” Our success stories do not imply we have no challenges. Our major challenge has been financial. We are in dire need of funds to multiply the effectiveness and effect of our projects, in need of finances to provide stipends and motivations to our “volunteer staff” and finances to run our office especially in the domain of communication. We believe with You, we can do more which is why we look up on to You for your continuous support. We also faced lots challenges with transporting our flora, project materials and personnel to project sites. These are just a few of some of our challenges. Together with you, we can overcome these challenges. On behalf of everyone at The Greens, I want to express gratitude for our many supporters and Partners including 1% Club, A World Feast, Peace Child International, One Percent for the Planet, JCI Bamenda Royal, Clean Up the World, Free Rice, Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium, Earth Charter, Do Something, Miss Chin Claudette, Mr. /Mrs. Bainkong Timothy, the Jeffers, and You! Your help has been invaluable. Join us as we recap the remarkable achievements of The Greens in 2013. We look forward to another year of greener achievements. Have a Green New Year! contact: [email protected] or dukefranky@live for your own copy of the annual report and Plan of action.
