France seems to have less civil laws than the USA, or their laws are drawn with wider boundaries and lighter colored lines. Traffic flows better (80mph vs 60mph), and I didnt see any police gunning or doing traffic enforcement and I didnt notice many officers on patrol anywhere. They seemed to leave minor infractions like speed enforcement up to automated ticketing type methods. This could be a result of being an English-speaker on temporary travel in a foreign country. Heres a quote from a 2008 NY Times article: The United States has less than 5 percent of the worlds population. But it has almost a quarter of the worlds prisoners.
