Freds whirlwind tour continues!!! Day 2 Ontario visit, Oct 7. Wendy Fric picked me up at hotel in Scarborough at 8am. Visiting schools in TO area on this day. First school, Childrens Garden, the cutest little school ever! JrK-grd 3. Greeted students as they arrive with passionate Terry Foxer and RO Sara Adamson. Wonderful Terry message in Caulk on the steps as we go into school. Visited class rooms as we made our way to auditorium. Terry is permanently everywhere in this little school. Framed pictures on the wall from past TF walks. with children wearing TFR t-shirts. Today everyone in the school is wearing a TF tshirt. Short but awesome visit. Now on to Bayview Glen school. Wendy & I greeted as we arrive by Daniel Dalessandro, a very bright and well spoken student at Bayview Glen. 2 presentations, one to Sr. School & the other to Prep school. Daniel & Andrea MCd and did a great job. A excellent school to visit. A quick stop to the Ontario TFF office. Always a busy place, with lots going on. Nice visit with Kim Smith who passes on her enthusiasm and passion to all of our TF supporters in Ontario. Lisa, Wendy & I headed to next school, Cardinal Leger Elementary. They are celebrating 25 years of participation in the Terry Fox Run. 22 past/retired staff attend assembly. Have visited this school a few years ago, as have Mom, Darrell & Judi. Thanks to TF Run organizer extraordinaire Cathy Nealon this school is so very committed to Terry Fox. There is a permanent TF mural on the wall and during the visit Terry Fox is everywhere. Lisa & Wendy presented school with their 25 year pennant and a framed TF print to Cathy. After the school we went to pick up a car for my travels out to Welland/Hamilton the next day. Wendy showed how this BCer needs to drive in the big smoke. The day ended with going to Breeda & Mike McClews for a short visit and dinner with them and Sis, Judi. Then Judi, Breeda & I headed to Bishop Strachan School for a special presentation of the MOH play. Organized by Craig Jarvis, huge Terry Fox supporter from ScotiaMcleod. A shorter, edited version for those that could possibly assist in getting play to the next level of presentation. MOH is another wonderful way to tell Terrys story. Nice to finally meet Michael Rubinoff & to see again genuine, nice guy John Connolly. Still got Johns beautiful song from the play Waiting for a Miracle in my head. A nice celebratory reception at Craigs home with cast and others afterwards. A nice end to a very special Terry Fox day in Toronto. - Fred
