To give you a little background, Congress passed the ACA back in 2010 thus requiring Americans to have health insurance. The goal of the act was to help control the increasing cost of health care and establish affordable health insurance options. Today there are millions of people with no health insurance at all because they can’t afford it, they have pre-existing conditions that stop them from getting coverage, or they just decide to take the chance that they won’t need it.
