#Freedom condemns the police brutality in Lahore against activists of the Awami Tehreek. Ten people have died and nearly 80 people have been severely injured and the images of police continuously beating activists who have already yielded demonstrates the true character of the police and the state in general. We call on the government to immediately suspend the police officers responsible for this brutality. A full investigation into the incident must be launched and the rule of law must be imposed against the police for this brutality. One may have political differences with the Awami Tehreek but this kind of repression is entirely unacceptable. One wonders if this state has the courage to go after real terrorists & criminals or if its only function is to beat up workers of other political parties. Shame on the police!
