Grand Final Match Report – Under 14/2s: Rhinos 16 – Wenty 12 Well, what can we say about our Rhinos 2014 U14/2s team – simply just CHAMPIONS. Our preparation was great leading into the grand final – two good training sessions, a video night, a breakfast brunch at Jeff/Natalie’s Parkway Diner, news that our club had 9x teams competing in Grand Finals across all ages - and a bus trip with the boys to the game – what else could you ask for. Similar to the Major Semi finals game – this was another tight tussle, team 1 vs. team 2 and it was a dog fight all the way through to the end and a game I am sure all wanted to see – yes the two best sides competing in the final game of the season…….until we exploded and the game was eventually ours. Yes folks, from the start this was a dedicated/pumped-up Wenty side who had nothing to lose, they had to try something different because we beat them on three of the four previous occasions and to come out of the blocks the way they did, we knew we had to stand up, and stand up we did. This was the only option Wenty had and it certainly made this a great game to watch, nerve racking from the start but the better team won in the end. For the first 15 minutes of the game it was all Wenty who attacked our line time and time again, but our defence stood up and we were still in it despite a 0-4 score line at the break. The second half started with two quick penalties to our boys, this allowed a raid on Wenty’s line with Liam coming up with a spectacular try to score in the corner. Four a peace and the tussle was back on again but the our forwards started to dominate as we did all year, every single one of them starred – from Dylan’s aggression to Taine/Zac/Faraaz and Eric’s bruising runs started to tear Wenty apart. Taine as he did all year stood tall when we needed him, carrying a few Wenty forwards (forward) ended up scoring and with a goal to Jacob our boys took a handy 10-4 lead. And then the game sealer….. Wenty tried a short kick off but Mr Twinkle toes (Louis) grabbed the ball, side stepped a few defenders and scored under the post. The extras was added by Jacob and with a 16-4 lead the cup was coming to Rouse Hill…….gravy baby, just gravy..!! Two late tries to Wenty only complimented the score line – but the second half and the effort put in by all gave our boys a win that was thoroughly deserved. A special mention goes out to ‘Nabil’ – a Wenty try-hard whose name was still ringing in our ears when the clock struck midnight, celebrating at the Vineyard. Winners are Grinners and the rest – well, you will need to be a great side to beat our boys next year!!! Once again and for the last time in 20 14 - very BIG CONGRATULATIONS BOYS – you have earned this win, you have earned the right to be the number one side this year. Have a great week – see you all at training, remember its 6-7:30 on Monday and 6:30-8:00 on Wednesday – in 2015. Tries By: Liam, Taine and Louis Goals By: Jacob (2/3) Player Points: - the entire team. Go the RHINOs ……………… Kind Regards, Don Boissezon
