Guam is an unincorporated territory of the United States. The - TopicsExpress

Guam is an unincorporated territory of the United States. The spoils of war between the US and Spain. Prior to Spains almost 300 year colonization of Guam, its amazing to conceive that our ancestors survived, nay, thrived for three thousand plus years. While Im sure they were not a perfect society, they somehow figured out how to get along and govern themselves. What we do know is that the people of Guam did not send emissaries to the superpowers of the world begging them to rescue them from the tortures of their quietude. Well, history happened and with not much that they could do about these superpowers, they accepted their new status as a colony and being the pensive and long suffering people that the Chamorri were, they eventually got along and made the best of it. Fast forward to 2014. The people of Guam are talking. But they want to do more than just talk. They want to right their history by taking advantage of the United Nations mandate on decolonization (which the United States fully agrees) and once and for all decide their political destiny. This is not about hating the USA. This is about Guam wanting the same things that the American Colonists wanted back in the 1700s. Respect, Recognition and Representation from the King of England. Its about a win win relationship with our long time friends and brothers and sisters from the USA where we sit as equals at the table of nations. I ask of all you facebook friends to write. To speak. To share and most especially invite your friends to join this forum and get the word out that we are no longer talking. We are moving. Finena Guahan!
