Freely you have been given so freely you shall give. (Matthew 10:8) Watching this clip reminds me of two kinds of people--a simple man (the one who has less) and a learned/experienced man (who is able to buy himself pizza). As people we like to accomplish things, and we like to take pride in what we earn, what weve worked hard for. And we feel that we need to be rewarded for our efforts, for our hard work. Or to put it in the context of this clip, because we bought the pizza with our own money we feel the need to be able to enjoy the reward in full. As ministers, we are like that too--we like to accomplish Gods work and we feel good when weve done something for the Kingdom. But because of this, often times we have become people who refuse to extend grace to others, merely because we feel they havent worked hard for it or they havent earned it or even they dont deserve it. But the simplest of men are who understand the vastness of grace. That all has been freely given to us. How are we to work had we not been given the breath of life? The same way, ministers, how are we to do the work of God had we not been given eternal life freely? We have been freely given grace, so lets remind ourselves of this simple truth over and over again, so that we may extend grace freely as well.
