Friday Sermon Helping and easing a purpose and foundation of Islam, Tayseer, or helping and easing, is one of the major purposes of Islamic law, worshippers will hear today in the Friday sermon. “Whoever embraces it wins and whoever deviates from it goes to extremes and loses,” the sermon reads. “Ease is God’s guidance to mankind.” Muslims will be reminded of a Quranic verse that “God wants for you ease and does not want hardship for you”. Imam will tell Muslims that tayseer is required in ethics and dealing with others. They will also remind worshippers that commandments in Islam take people’s conditions and ability into account. Praying and fasting have both been eased when needed. The Prophet Mohammed said the person leading the prayer should ease the prayer, as those praying with him might include the weak or the elderly. Other pillars of Islam have also been eased for Muslims. When it comes to fasting, God has exempted those who are sick and travelling. Similarly, in Haj, only those who can perform it should. “Oh Muslims, tayseer [is not limited] to the relationship between a worshipper and God,” the faithful will hear. “But also with others.” Muslims will be told to speak in ease with others and with their children. “Whoever is merciful with people and does not cause them hardship, God will be merciful with,” the sermon reads. “And whoever causes hardship to people, God will cause them hardship.” In the second part of the sermon, imams will tell Muslims that being religious is different to extremism and radicalism.
