Friend Day Devotional March 15, 2014 Many of us want desperately to win our friends to Christ. Sometimes these are friends we see almost every day and other times they are friends we haven’t seen in years but still care about deeply. They are on our heart and in our prayers. We may talk to them often about the Lord. They may listen courteously but never give any indication of their desire to know Christ. They are polite but not persuaded. So what do we do when our overtures are seemingly unrewarded? We pray. Sound too simplistic? It isn’t because prayer brings the omnipotence of God into our conversations with our friends and into their thinking and searching. God brought us to Himself and He can bring our friends to Himself. Some of you may be a bit frustrated just now. You have been trying to enlist a friend for Friend Day for about a week and no one has made a commitment to come with you on March 30. Everyone who has ever tried to win people to Christ understands your frustration. Sometimes God allows us to meet with almost immediate success when sharing His love but at other times the process is slower. Remember: “slow’ doesn’t necessarily mean “no.” God will reward us if we are faithful in doing what is right. So we must not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don’t give up (Gal. 6: 9 HCSB). In the meantime, keep calling on God to reach into the interior life of your friend and change his/her heart. Maybe you remember the words of a popular Christian tune: Can You reach my friend? Bring his searching to an end Lord, I know you love him Help him understand Can You reach my friend?
