Friends--today I took two more Chihuahuas I was temporarily fostering to Livermore Airport, where they joined a Wings of Rescue Flight to Bellingham, Washington (along with a dozen other small dogs from Oakland Animal Services). I met some amazing, dedicated volunteers who pulled this all together (especially Cindy Douglas the best organizer I have ever met !) Long term I hope we can find every Oakland dog an Oakland home, but in the meantime, I am so thankful organizations like Left Behind K-9 Rescue and Dachshund Rescue Team and Size Small Dog Rescue - Langley British Columbia and Rescued Hearts Northwest are willing and able to take these little guys and find them wonderful new homes!! If you make charitable donations this time of the year (or any time of the year!) I hope you will consider donating to these wonderful organizations! And definitely check out Wings of Rescue if you want to be impressed and tearful at the same time!! (Watch this, you will cry! wingsofrescue.org/ )
