Friends, After counting all the provisional ballots and absentees - TopicsExpress

Friends, After counting all the provisional ballots and absentees which came in, Derk Perhson got 17 of those votes and I got 17. That was not enough to make up the 2 vote deficit I had out of the primary. So I am still 2 votes shy of coming out of the race. I was torn today as to do a recount or not. I know Derk needs to move on with his campaign. I also know many of you have given much to help me get to this point. But since the County says they can do a recount by Thursday afternoon, and I want to be fair to election process, making sure all the votes are counted as they were cast, and I want to make sure I am fair to my supporters and contributors, I am going to proceed with a recount. It is within the margin of error allowed. Anything under 4 votes would have qualified. I actually talked with Derk on Monday night and told him if the outcome went my way, he should also ask for the recount (if the margin was equally narrow) to ensure the same fairness in the process. I am expecting the results to stay the same however. And if they do, I am asking all of you to rally around Derk Perhson. I know him well. I used to work for him. He was my boss for 3 years as my real estate broker when I sold real estate. He is a good man and I believe he will do well. He has a good heart and cares a lot about people. We ran a great race against each other. We talked often throughout the race and shared stories. We even bumped into each other twice while campaigning, he walking up one side of the street while I was coming up the other. It is hard to loose by such a small number, but in the end, to loose to a friend in a race that was fun in nature between us, makes it much easier. And if the results from the recount do change, and I come out in 2nd, I will post on Thursday and let you know. If so, I will be committed to continue on, to campaign to win and help bring about a vision for this community that I have, one of making sure everybody is treated equal and fair, everybody has a voice and everybody has the opportunity to be involved in making our community better. Thanks again to everybody.
