Friends, On April 10th 2014 the world lost a very genuine, kind hearted, hilarious, loveable, giving, and caring man. His name is Nick Honea and he will be greatly missed forever. I spent a lot of time with Nick in high school and college and have always been proud to call him a buddy. A couple hours after I got the news, I went home, pulled out the guitar, and wrote a song. I had no intentions of selling it, spreading it on YouTube, or benefiting from it in any way. I wrote the song for one reason and one reason only, a gift to the Honea family. However, after Nick’s passing, I became aware of a SCHOLARSHIP fund the Honea family started to honor Nick, so I decided to have it professionally recorded and put on iTunes. I have decided to copyright the song in the name of Albertville City Schools and I’m DONATING 100% OF THE MONEY to the Nick Honea Scholarship fund. The song is NOT on iTunes yet, but it will be in a few days. This is a “heads up’’ message to let everyone know that the song is coming. How awesome would it be if we raised several thousand dollars and showed the Honea family how tight Marshall County is, how much we cared for Nick, and how much we care about education? Let’s come together and see if we can meet our goal of 3,000 purchases. If the same 2,000 + people that viewed it on YouTube contribute, then we’re going be in good shape. After you buy the song you have one more job…..blast it out to everyone you know and let’s see what happens. Thanks in advance for your support and I love you all. NOW FOR THE THANK YOU PORTION OF THE MESSAGE: Recording a song is very expensive and frustrating. But when you have people step up and help you, it makes life a lot easier. Here is a list of people that made this project happen: 1. Mr. John Stone: Thank you so much for singing Nick’s song. I decided not to record my vocals on Nick’s song because a man way more talented than me said he would. At a time when John was extremely busy and in the middle of touring, he found time for Marshall County, and was glad to help out. How can we tell John Stone thank you??? You go to his web site and buy his great music, you go to his concerts, and if you see him tell him thank you and how great of a person and musician he is. Thank you John. Visit John at johnstonecountry 2. Edward O’Neal, Wade Swords, Jerry Duckett, Jamie Duckett, Jenna Duckett Payne, Joy Thrash Barnes, Joe Gerardi, Trevor Holliday: These kind folks donated their hard earned money for the recording. THANK YOU SO MUCH and I owe you all big time. 3. Justin Morgan: Justin owns Pearl Snap Studios in Nashville and has recorded 4 of my songs over the last 2 years. Justin is a very talented musician and engineer so check him out if you’re looking for quality recordings at very reasonable pricing. Justin discounted the song by about a hundred dollars and that helped tremendously. Thanks Justin. Visit Justin at pearlsnapstudios/ 4. Josh Bright: Josh helped us out with putting the song on iTunes as that is a very time consuming and frustrating process. Josh owns Music Box Studios and can help with all your recording needs as well. Check out Josh Bright on Facebook. 5. Jeff Walker, Mark Thompson, Lanice Morrison: The night I wrote the song I sent it to the Honea family and they immediately asked me to sing it at Nick’s funeral. I said yes because how can you say no, but I wasn’t thinking about how much of a wreck I would be and how my nerves wouldn’t allow me to perform. I had to respectfully decline, and let the professionals do it. These three guys did a great job performing Nick’s song at the funeral and everyone appreciates what you did. THANK YOU!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!! 6. Kathy Henderson, Samantha May, Tyler May: Kathy, Samantha, and Tyler helped out a lot with all the behind the scenes leg work and I really appreciate your effort and hard work. I really appreciate everyone’s support and compliments on Nick’s song. For those of you that would rather not purchase from iTunes please see instructions below. CDs are available for a $5/donation at the following locations Albertville Community Learning Center Albertville Chamber of Commerce Albertville City Board of Education Albertville City Hall Paisley Patch Main Street Realty Plus Call Kathy Henderson 256-894-5040 for more information Please DO NOT share the song, put it on YouTube, or burn copies.
