Friends, This October update is intended to be more of an encouragement to YOU who consistently uplift me as I, your brother, stand in this valley fighting this battle. Our heavenly Father is blessing me mightily and I am grateful to be getting this break from chemotherapy. I have regained strength, I feel good most days, labs/tests are all coming back with positive results, and I am enjoying each day by doing the things with the people that matter most in this world – and I am able to share my faith with many who are in battles of their own. My battle is cancer and I am able to be very open with you in sharing my status, progress, and approach to facing a superior opponent. Cancer is bigger than man (me) but none of our battles slipped up on God nor is any challenge bigger than His supreme power. He has a perfect plan and can work His will regardless of our circumstances – He just needs your choice and to be given room in your life. There are many of you facing battles in valleys of your own and I can only share with you the way God has met me where I am and completely met my needs with His riches, resources, and divine abilities. You may not can share as openly as I have your battle, but He knows it and welcomes your placement of total faith in Him, your belief that He can manage any opponent better than we can, and your trusting that His way is best for our lives. I have chosen to abandon trying to control outcomes/results in my battle and simply trust His supremacy. Your battles may be physical, spiritual, emotional, social, financial, and/or occupational, but any and all battles can be brought to the Master for His perfect attention to relieve the pressure of you controlling the outcomes. You and I can merely commit to giving our best efforts daily and obediently serving others according to His instruction/conviction – the results/outcomes are His to produce. I am a battler, fighter, strategist, achiever and planner by nature, but this cancer-challenge is beyond me (and any worldly resource I can summons). So we have chosen to place our measure of faith in Him, believe Him to do His perfect will, and trust Him to manage our outcomes/results in these battles. Not easy for a ‘fixer-type’ to yield to outside sources, but it is as we are instructed to do and it is as I am convicted to do on a daily basis. And this approach to allow Him room for work in, with, and through me has resulted in the closest and most comforting relationship with Him as is possible. As His word promises, I have not been forsaken, lonely, unloved, unassured, or otherwise defeated in my battle – and I am convicted that you would be just as comforted in your challenges. I have peace that is unexplainable and I pray for you to experience similar assurance as you struggle in your valley, as well. I am merely a sinful human in a natural/evil world who is gifted by a loving Savior who looks past my natural weaknesses and comforts my spirit with His Holy Spirit – you have access to the very same loving Father’s embrace (and all that comes with that). You, my friends, are so faithfully loving, caring, and prayerful for me and I pray diligently that He will bless you in your struggles as well. My next scans are scheduled for October 22. These assessments will reveal my current cancer status and dictate next steps for treatment, but the outcome belongs to the Father who is perfect and supreme. You are so instrumental in my faithful approach to this battle and He can give whosoever the essential courage/confidence to take the next step toward being His child before needy others using the gifts of time, energy, and effort in service to others as instructed/convicted by Him. You have been and remain champions for whom I am grateful! Thank You…and Praise God!!!
