Friends and Family, Zachary Hiser and I want to give an update on - TopicsExpress

Friends and Family, Zachary Hiser and I want to give an update on our little bundle of joy, Callen Donald Hiser. Yesterday afternoon/evening he was having decreased fetal movement so we came to the hospital and it was confirmed by ultrasound that baby wasnt moving much at all. We were rushed to the OR for an emergency c-section and our little man was born at 1050pm. Initially, his color was very pale and he was anemic. He spent the evening in the special nursery where they monitored him closely. This morning when the pediatrician came to see him she was very concerned about the size of his abdomen and scrotum. After an xray was done, it was confirmed that Cal had a perforated bowel. After a few hours he was transported via ambulance to Comers Hospital and within the hour was taken to surgery for an exploratory laparotomy and possible hernia repair. Not too long ago he came out of the OR and doctors were able to fix the perforation and remove part of the bowel. However, there was meconium present in the abdomen from the tear. With that said, the next couple of days are most critical due to potential for sepsis. He is on antibiotics and will be receiving a blood transfusion shortly for the anemia. Daddy is staying close by his side during this difficult time and keeping my precious boy safe. I dont know what I would do without his help. You are my love and my rock! Thank you for taking such great care of ALL of us. The girls are doing well, and excited to have a little brother and cant wait to hold him. Fiona and Tess even said Cal blew them a kiss from the nursery today, which was way too cute. We greatly appreciate all the text messages and phone calls and apologize if we havent responded. Its been a very emotional day for all of us and right now could use all the thoughts and prayers in the world to help him heal. I am hoping they will release me tomorrow morning so the family can be together as I want nothing more than to have them all by my side. Thank you to everyone who came to see us at Riverside today and for all your prayers. The nurses have been WONDERFUL and very supportive throughout this difficult time. I cant thank you all enough for all of your EXCELLENT nursing care!! We are truly blessed to have such wonderful people in our lives. Thank you! #hiserstrong
