Today is Charles Edward Andersons 88th birthday. CHUCK BERRY is the bridge that brought Black R&B music to White America in the early 50s - thus creating a new genre of music - ROCK N ROLL. Chuck first collaborated in 1953 with Fairmont, WVs own - Johnnie Johnson (The Godfather of R&R) and joined The Johnnie Johnson Trio. They played the club circuit around St. Louis. There Chuck developed his skills as a singer, guitarist and performer and after his big breakthrough he retained Johnson as his piano player throughout all the early years. Berry wrote his hallmark song inspired by Johnson - Johnnie B. Goode in 1958 though the song clearly described himself - carrying his guitar in a gunny sack.
