From 2013, the Chair of the PNE, a Vision Vancouver city councillor, refuses my request to observe a PNE board meeting. (It is a public body and we should have a right to observe). Dear Mr. Mackin, The PNE Board meetings are by invite only and regularly attended by only the PNE Board and PNE Senior Staff. This is done to protect the organizations financial viability by keeping the commercial and business strategies of the PNE confidential, until such time that they are implemented. These strategies are discussed during both the In Camera and Public Portion Agendas, and therefore they are not open for the public to attend. That said, our ongoing practice is to post the minutes of the discussions that occur during the Public Portion on our web site once they have been approved by the Board at each subsequent board meeting.
