From Mandy Connell: The Senate is working towards a bill to legalize the millions of illegal immigrants in this country. I’m not stupid, I realize how large the problem is, but I have some questions I’d like an answer to before I get on board with anything close to legalization. 1. Why shouldn’t border security be first? Simple enough question. But no one seems to be asking the Democrats who keep blocking border security first that particular question. Why not? Congress duped us once before, how stupid do you have to be to not see that it could happen again? Don’t answer that. 2. Why is legalization good for Americans? And don’t give me that nonsense about illegals driving without driver’s licenses and not having insurance. Giving someone legal status in the hopes they won’t continue to break other laws is preposterous on the face of it. Cheap tomatoes are not a good reason either. I hate tomatoes. 3. Why should we believe the government will enforce new laws when they don’t enforce the old ones? Again, I think this indicates just how stupid they think we are. 4. Why not create tougher penalties for businesses who hire illegals and shore up the system for EVerify? They are allegedly going to create an expanded guest worker program, but if they can’t make E Verify work, how are they going to make a bigger system work? Why not start here, make this system effective and THEN move to a guest worker program? 5. If we have a labor shortage, kick people off unemployment. Kick them off food stamps. Get them off their butts and working doing SOMETHING. Why not do this first? Just some random thoughts, and before you think me heartless, I’m not opposed to some kind of legalization for productive members of the illegal community who pay fines and work for it. But I simply don’t believe everyone here illegally deserves it.
