From Robert Sheer: Carl Sagan and his Cosmos TV series heavily influenced me as a teenager. I believe hes one of the reasons why my photography, called Spirit Shadows, is a study of the physics of light in front of the camera. In my Young Mr. Lincoln photograph, when I traverse in front of the Lincoln statue wearing black, the negative cant see me because black is the absence of light, and it takes light to make a blur. Simply stated, theres a presence out there, but its invisible. This makes me wonder about all the things that are out there in the cosmos that human eyes cannot see, even the one thing most obvious to us... light. Ive learned from stretching time with the camera on the blackest nights that light and color will overwhelm the negative with the simple addition of time. At night, our galaxy can light up the earth and the sky in the same way that our sun does during the day. My theory is that there is no darkness in the universe, light + time conquers the darkness. And if we looked at time in its entirety, all the light in the universe would illuminate the entire cosmos back to its infancy, and that would take us to the beginning of everything and... Let there be light.
