From: laurencefass@hotmail To: [local MP] Subject: RE: Response required from Edward Davey Date: Tue, 30 Jul 2013 22:23:41 +0000 Dear [local MP] I have been reading further on the escalating problems faced by both local communities and police in relation to exploratory drilling and I have provided a link to a typical article in order that I may reference quotes. I request that the enquiries that follow this link are forwarded to Mr Davey with an urgent request for a reply. telegraph.co.uk/earth/environment/10212121/Fracking-protests-puts-strain-on-police-resources.html quote ..."a Government study has said that the earthquakes are minor and the risks of water contamination are insignificant." I am struggling to find details of any studies available in the public domain to substantiate a claim like this. Please can you advise on how I may obtain them. quote ..."The Department for Energy and Climate Change has issued 176 licences..." What are the classes of these licenses? How many different types of licenses have been issued and by whom? Is there any legislation in place to define the form, function, scope, execution, duration and regulation of these licenses? As I have previously asserted hydraulic fracking companies do not appear to be breaking any laws because there are none (I can find) that have been defined to break, and this itself is an irrefutable cause for suspension of all operations until the necessary precautions and safeguards have been put into place and potential liabilities clearly defined. I look forward to receiving further clarification on these issues, or a referral to an appropriate department where I may obtain further information. Kind regards, Laurence Fass
