From my kitchen window I watched the seven-year-old neighbor - TopicsExpress

From my kitchen window I watched the seven-year-old neighbor explore the hedgerow. Wind tousled her ponytail, but not even the loose hairs flying in her face distracted her. She was intent on discovery. When a butterfly flitted over the Rose of Sharon bush, she tracked it smiling. She snipped a flower off, and held the pink blossom to her nose, smiling. Then she bent down and picked up some creature, wiggling in her fingers – a worm perhaps. She tilted her head one way and another, poked the creature with her index finger, and held it high up into the sunlight, smiling. God’s creation enthralled her. The wonderment in her face warmed my heart. She brought home this truth: we can find the Marvel of God in His creation. The heavens and the earth indeed declare His wonders. Would that the eyes of my heart would be as open as this little gal’s eyes. Would that I would smile at God’s activity in my life, the way nature made her smile. Would that I wondered, open-eyed, intent at God’s workmanship, every new day. {reflect on Psalm 19 and Romans 1}
