From the diary of an old villager to town: Friday afternoon and am having a beer with an old colleague, a contemporary and retired cop. Street boys walk up, want to watch videos on a laptop. They are watching Vinnie Jones World Toughest Cops. Theres a part that interests them. 23rd Dec 1999 The Millennium Robery down town POM city. The boys look over at my colleague with knowing amusement. On the video, a cop is heard saying: There was a policeman who was on duty at the town police station. He ran in front of the building took out his shot gun and shot at the helicopter... as the chopper was trying to lift off from the building...the chopper crashed right in front of the water front... Of course, the boys know a shot gun couldnt possibly bring a chopper down. They look at my colleague with subtle admiration. He in turn is happy to be with me this afternoon for a beer and chat. I then ask him: You have done so many things for your country as a police officer. Do you have any regrets?
