From the inbox: Hey Jodie Im a coastie and I was hoping to know if you could enlighten me on why Marines and soldiers share a dorm room with each other? I mean the Coast Guard lets us have our own room, its kind of like staying in a hotel. And my rate doesnt have to wear a uniform to work every day, we usually wear civvies as long as theyre professional and in regulation. Its sort of like any other job really in the civilian sector, I mean we get up at 0900 and work till 1500 most days and have an hour and a half lunch break. Why cant the rest of the military be the same as us? We still achieve as much goals as the Marine Corps or Army and definitely excell in our jobs compared to the Navy squids and Air Force guys. Why do you all have to live so strictly? We dont even have room inspections or formations except on Monday and Friday.
