Frozen pipes were a big issue last winter, but now, one community is getting ahead of the problem. It happened to several communities that went without running water after pipes froze from the bitter cold. Last winter in Lanesboro, Minnesota, the city bought garden hoses for people to hook up to other homes that had running water. This year, the city is asking residents to check the temperature of their water. If its below 35 degrees, people are to keep water running at a pencil width stream for several days.
