Fun Fact: Attack on Titan bares many similarities to Norse Mythology. - (More Info. Longish. Also, spoilers.) - - - - - - - 1. The name Ymir. In Norse Myth, Ymir was the first of all giants. She lived in a beautiful grass plain and she was forced to build walls to protect her and her people from other rioting creatures that lived in the same world. In Attack on Titan, Ymir is the name of a titan shifter. Mysteriously, a titan once talked, saying, Youre one of Ymirs people. 2. Castle Utgard. In Norse Myth, Jotunheim and Utgard were the two lands that Ymirs people lived in. Both were protected by the walls and giants who came from the cities were denied entrance into the mainland (Asgard). Utgard also means Stronghold of the Giants. In Attack on Titan, Castle Utgard is where Ymir first revealed her secret of being a shifter. 3. The name Frieda. In Attack on Titan, Frieda is Historias half sister and the previous coordinate, before she became killed. Frieda deprives directly from the name Freyja. In Norse Myth, Freyja was a goddess associated with many items. She was called the most glorious of all goddesses and her brother, Freyr, was called most glorious of all gods. They were part of a war called the Aesir-Vanir war, being on Aesirs side (the side that was more associated with war), but they were held hostage in the Vanirs side (the side that was more associated with peace). - - - - - - aSDFGHLJJL;;.
