Fund-Raising Profile in YouCaring website (Revised on June 9th 2013) Warm Greetings! Thank you in advance for reading my profile and considering helping me in my campaign to raise-funds for my Ph.D. study! My primary objective in my pursuing a doctoral program is to be well-equipped to help develop organizations, churches and results-based leaders in Malaysia/Asia for the 21st century. This call was affirmed in the course of my earning a Master of Arts in Leadership program at Trinity Western University in Langley, Canada. I am thankful and excited to have received news in February 2013 that I have been accepted into Regent University’s doctoral program in Organizational Leadership. I am one step closer towards fulfilling my dream to contribute in greater ways in the field of leadership. My plans are to start the program in spring 2014. Let me briefly highlight my vision and objectives of my doctoral study. My personal vision statement is: “To be an exemplary strategic leader touching the nations through leadership.” This is my primary objective in pursuing the Ph.D. Some of my future objectives include teaching at graduate schools, starting a leadership institute, consulting, coaching, writing, conducting seminars and developing leadership enhancements in churches. My desire is to introduce and promote the best practices in organizational leadership that supports the sustainability and continual growth of these organizations. Based on my assessment of the current situation in Malaysia, I believe that there is a need for the introduction and promotion of best practices in organizational leadership. Many of the leadership practices adopted by non-profit organizations and churches are based on old secular paradigms of management. However, best practices in leadership have evolved significantly in the last two to three decades and many non-profit organizations and churches in Malaysia have not kept up. As a result, non-profit organizations and churches have not fully developing their leadership competencies. There is a need to master the arts of resonant leadership and develop best practices in leadership. Non-profit organization and church leaders for the most part, have not had formal training in leadership. I was in church leadership for 20 years and never formally learnt what made a good leader! I believe that incorporating the transforming servant leadership model as well as strengthening overall leadership competencies is some of the most important priorities for organizations and churches today. These competencies include relationship and collaboration, adaptability and change and visioning and strategic thinking and results. I believe the non-profit organizations and churches in Malaysia could be much more effective with leaders who are fully trained in these competencies. That is why I came to Canada to pursue the Masters of Arts in Leadership at Trinity Western University and now pursuing a Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership. Holding a doctorate in leadership will enable me to both reach more organizational leaders in Malaysia and to more effectively train them in best practices. This is the work I want to do. Effective leadership will ensure continual sustainability and growth of the organizations and churches. My goal is to help to create the next generation of results-based leaders who will have a strong and positive impact on the organizations or churches they lead. As a consequence, they will help not only their community but will contribute towards the advancement of the Kingdom. I believe I am well-prepared to contribute towards this work. I wish to highlight three reasons. First, I came from Malaysia, and are familiar with the country’s culture, second, I have experience in ministry leadership, and are thus familiar with the opportunities and challenges facing leaders, organizations and churches there are third, I have the training, experience, and interest in leadership, having earned a Master’s degree in it, and now having been accepted to a renounced Ph.D. leadership school. My current challenge is to raise funds for my education, as I have invested my personal savings into earning my master’s degree at Trinity. I am hoping to raise some of those funds through this fund-raising campaign. It is said that there is power in numbers, thus, the more people who are reached; the more likely I will be able to reach my goal. I believe that by combining methods and means, the goal is achievable. Everyone can play a part! To illustrate how the goal of reaching the tuition fees of USD $63,000 (USD $15,000 per year for 4 years) is achievable. Please support me. I am looking for 132 people to commit to USD $10.00 per month for 4 years or 263 people to commit USD $5 per month – the price of a cup of Starbucks coffee. Would you consider this please, and ask one other friend to do the same? The needs in Malaysia is huge and I believe this is God’s calling for me. In addition to this fund-raising campaign, I am also aggressively pursuing other methods to finance my doctoral study. These include applying for scholarships, pursuing foundations grants, soliciting key leaders and pursuing work opportunities to save every dollar. If my fund-raising goal is fulfilled, I promise to work towards maintaining my GPA at 3.5 and above. To those organizations and churches who pledge to support me, upon my completion of my Ph.D. program, I am prepared to contribute or serve your organization or church with my expertise in any agreeable roles or projects. In the event that I am unable to pursue my study, all money that you donate to me through this fund-raising campaign will be refunded back to you, less 2.9% processing charge by PayPal and donation to youcaring. However, it is my intention to pursue my study either full time or part-time, so the fund will purely be set aside for education. Together with you, I can accomplish this. I need you to partner with me in this endeavour and support me in this vision and journey. Truly, further education is possible with the people’s scholarship. Every contribution is welcomed and appreciated. Please help me network with more people by sharing this fund raising campaign with them. I will post regular update on the progress of this fund raising campaign recognizing the value of integrity, transparency and accountability. I trust and pray that God will bless this fund-raising campaign and a special blessing upon every contributor. “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Hebs 11:1 (NIV) "...he who sows sparingly shall also reap sparingly; and he who sows bountifully shall also reap bountifully."
