Fund raising dinner: PDP nets N21.27bn for Jonathan re-election bid. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday held a fund raising dinner at the old Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.in support of the re election did of President Goodluck Jonathan The Fund Raising Dinner was chaired by Mr. Tunde Ayeni, who donated N2bn. The Party realized N21.27bn to support its campaign for the 2015 presidential election. The donations came form businessmen, multinational organisations, interest groups and individuals donors. The chairman of the dinner, Mr. Tunde Ayeni, who donated N2bn said the sum consisted of N1bn donated by him and his partner, and another N1bn contributed by their unnamed friends. Chief Fund Raiser and Chairman of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote represtend by Mr. Joseph Makanju, promised that he would personally see the National Chairman of the PDP, Adamu Mu’Azu, to offer his support. Chairman of the fundraiser committee, Prof. Jerry Gana, said his friends and associates in the power sector were donating N5bn. N1.05billion came from PDP Governors Forum. Bauchi State Governor, Isa Yuguda, who spoke on behalf of the PDP governors, said each 21 of them would donate N50m each. The 15 states on the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission donated a total of N15million, among other donations. SIFAX Group announced N100m donation, while PDP stakeholders in Rivers State supported Jonathan’s bid with N50m. Other donation includes N5bn from Players in the Oil and Gas sector of the economy, Real Estate and Building players donated N4bn, Transport and Aviation sectors gave N1bn, Players in Food and Agriculture sectors gave N500m, Power sector donated N500m, Construction supported with N310m, Road Construction gave N250m, National Automative Association gave N450m and Shelter Development Limited show support with N250m Donations came private companies and individuals in support of the re election bid of Goodluck Jonathan President Jonathan, while thanking the donors remarked that the Saturday was a special day, due to the fundraiser. He further assured the donors that the funds would not be wasted or misused. He said the money raised is for his party, PDP, assuring that all the funds generated would help to run the party better. .
