Fundraiser update: Current total donations is $4365. Thanks to the generosity of Carmen V, Jane S and my wifes high school friends from Iloilo, I was able to raise another $650 during a recent trip somewhere warmer than Chicago. I have already sent $3000 thru my brother and the $1000 for Concepcion will be used to build 3 fishing boats to help fishermen that lost there boats during the storm get back on their feet. The money for Sara was given to my bro-in-law Francis Salcedo to be used to rebuild 2 houses destroyed by Yolanda. Beneficiaries were chosen among the poorest and those who would have the hardest time rebuilding without financial help. I will be providing pictures as soon as they are available. The money for Lemery was given to Mayor Ligaya Apura to be used for relief efforts. I will give updates when I have information about specific projects the money is being used for. The remaining money is still with me. I have started sending prints to the donors who wanted pictures in exchange for donations and used some of the funds to pay for printing and shipping (most actually added extra money with their donations to cover printing and shipping and I added that in the total of the money donated). I can use the remaining money for Concepcions Adopt A Fisherman program or if Im able to raise more, I will try to donate it to a proposed Gawad Kalinga Village in Sara to build a house for the poor.
