Funeral Services for Mrs Lula Mae Blackmon, age 72 who transitioned on Saturday October 5, 2013 at her residence, are scheduled for Thursday Oct. 10, 2013 at Evans Chapel AME Church 905 Second Ave., Smithfield, NC at 2:00pm. Viewing and Visitation will be Wed evening from 5 until 7 pm at the Walter Sanders Funeral Home Chapel, 302 S. Bright Leaf Blvd. Smithfield. Mrs Lula Williams Blackmon was born to the late Edward J. Williams and Luvenia Watson Williams on October 31, 1940 in Smithfield, NC. She was called to her eternal rest on October 5, 2013. Lula was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon Leslie Blackmon, and one brother James Smith. Lula joined Evans Chapel AME Church at an early age and was a former member of the choir. Lula attended Johnston County Training School in Smithfield. She retired in 2006 after over 30 years of employment with James and Janice Wellons of Smithfield. She leaves to cherish her passing two daughters Pamela Session (Donzell Jr.) of the home and Claudine Dublin of Smithfield; one son James Baldwin (Peggy) of Goldsboro, NC; one sister Anna Graham of Smithfield; two sisters-in-laws, Florene Williams of Smithfield and Virginia Flournoy (Michael) of Pittsburg, PA; six grandchildren, Alecia Johnson, Cameron Perry, Shaun Baldwin, James Baldwin II, Emanuel Baldwin, and Michael Baldwin; four great-grandchildren, Makayla, Zion, Azariah, and Kaiden; three lifelong friends, Peggy Barnes, Betty Hooks and Melvin Hooks, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
