Further comment on Flu injections. 1. The injections are not commissioned but are paid for by NHS England. 2. There are no free flu jabs in that all flu jabs are free and doctors must not charge for them (unless it is a private patient receiving a non-NHS provided injection). 3. Doctors are paid for giving flu jabs and make a slight profit from each one, this encourages them to make them as widely available as possible. 4. The criteria for entitlement to flu jabs is decided by NHS England but doctors are free to decide themselves who may also be injected. 5. Both predicted that informal carers (those under the radar because they are unpaid) would not be refused by any doctor they knew.
