Fwd: Idea for PsySSR-UDC Activity: Screening and Panel Discussion of : “Hate Crimes in the Heartland: A Film by Rachel Lyon” Dear All leaders and members of PsySSR-UDC (current, prospective, and past), Heres an activity idea for PsySSR that touches one of the hottest issues in America and around the world--Black Lives Matter. As a chapter, consider hosting a screening and panel discussion of the film described below, Hate Crimes in the Heartland. The first link takes you to a trailer of the film, and the second link to an interview with an African American psychologist who lived through the savage KKK brutalization and killing of African Americans. I can imagine a panel composed of UDC faculty and students from psychology, law, social sciences/history, and media. As Frederick Douglas told a young Martin Luther King Jr, agitate, agitate, agitate... Dr. Dockett From: Society for the Scientific Study of Ethnic Minority Issues(Div45) on behalf of Dr. Martha E. I had the opportunity to see the premiere of the film and a panel discussion with an overflow crowd at the Cleveland Museum of Art on the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.
