GAA Handball Co. Wexford 40X20 Juvenile ‘A’ Singles Semi-Final’s 2015. The Co.Wexford 40X20 Juvenile ‘A’ Singles Semi-Final’s 2015 went ahead last evening Saturday 13th December & this morning Sunday 14th December 2014 at various venues around the County..Mark Doyle remained on course for another Co.Title in Boys U-12 when he beat ‘Stablemate’ Ben Keeling 2 Games to 0 last evening in a re-arranged fixture in St.Josephs..Robert Hillis qualified to meet him in the U-12 Final when he scrambled home against Cathal Cummins (Ballymitty) 15-11,8-15,15-11 in a tense encounter early this morning in St.Josephs..Robert certainly didn’t make things easy for himself but hopefully that little bit of experience gained will stand him in good stead..Bobby Doyle fell a couple of Aces short in his opening game in the Boys U-10 Singles against Jamie Barnes (St.Marys) losing it 12-15 and he struggled to make up the deficit thereafter going down 9-15 in the 2nd..A few small things could have swung it his way so it’s back to the training courts for the man from Trinity..Rory Gilbert ensured he has a chance of holding onto his Title when he beat Shane Kehoe (St.Marys) 15-11,15-14 in the other Semi-Final..He was a little inconvenienced by a cut on his knee but he managed to squeeze through..The U-10 is a Title that we haven’t lost since the inception of the new Juvenile structure in the County as Richard Lawlor then Mark Doyle and then Rory himself won so no pressure to hold on to it..!Rúairí Ennis ensured that we will be represented in the Boys U-9 Final when he beat Odhrán Kehoe (Ballyhogue) 15-9,15-10 in Horeswood to reach his debut Final..I heard he had a good Coach with him though..!Back in St.Josephs Ellie Murphy O’Gorman beat Elizabeth Walsh in the Girls U-11 Singles on a 15-4,15-3 scoreline,Elizabeth had been under the weather for the last two weeks & she just couldn’t get into any rhythm..Ellie will never be beaten easily & in the Final she will meet another training partner in Jodie Keeling who was much the best in Bree when taking out Stacey O’Rafferty (Coolgreany) in the other Semi-Final..The Girls have been putting in a great effort lately & we hope to organise a challenge against Ballymitty for them soon..Richard Lawlor was a facile winner in Boys U-13 Singles against Dean O’Neill (Ballymitty) in a game scheduled for Piercestown but that went ahead in St.Josephs..Josh Kavanagh reversed the scores almost identically from a year previous against Diarmuid Moore in the other Semi-Final running out a 15-10,15-6 winner..I’m not quite sure that the jump to the Dark Blue so soon is altogether necessary but then that’s my own personal opinion..I can’t see what the big rush is especially when U-13 is only run on a provincial level – anyway that’s neither here nor there..Josh McMahon & Cian Kehoe played a belter of a 1st Game in Boys U-14 before Cian somewhat fortuitously won it 15-13,Josh had the winning of it & on balance probably shaded it..Cian made no mistake in the 2nd as he completely took over to win it 15-4..Good displays from both boys & definite promise for the future..Game of the Day for the 2nd successive year was the Girls U-15 Singles Semi-Final between Emma Sweeney & Eva Crean,Eva as she did 12 months ago went agonisingly close again..A lapse in concentration on Serve at 13-13 in the 1st cost her dearly as she lost it 13-15..Emma made the running in the 2nd before getting collared close home (15-13 to Eva) in a fantastic contest as both girls played brilliantly..The 3rd was close but Emma went from 9-7 to 15-7 in nearly one service hand after both had given their all..Cora Doyle qualified for another Final when she beat Lauren Flanagan (Coolgreany) 15-8,15-0 in Bree..
